Position Overview:

As Head of Human Factors and Usability you will thrive in this role by embodying an action-oriented mindset, consistently surpassing expectations, and operating with a keen sense of vision and integrity.  The role will entail a significant client-facing component, and you will be expected to play an active role in the pitching for, development and completion of projects, with regular reporting back to the Directors. In addition, you will be responsible for identifying new capability opportunities, fostering their development within the team, and ensuring the function remains best-in-class through continuous growth and innovation.

You will offer expert guidance and support, play a key role in the evolution and approval of Human Factors related policies and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and act as an ambassador for the company by maintaining positive relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.

In support of growth ambitions across territories, specifically the Crux Boston (US) entity, there will be an expectation for semi-regular travel across Europe and the US to serve client, sales and networking needs. You will be expected to establish and nurture strong relationships with face-to-face meetings as well as attending and networking at relevant conferences and driving Human Factors thought leadership.

Success in this position hinges on your exceptional leadership and communication skills, ability to influence, and a genuine commitment to nurturing the talents of your growing team. You will deploy your experience and knowledge to develop the Human Factors and Usability offering (capability and client experience) as well as on projects and have a keen interest in international trends within Human Factors, Usability and leadership.

With a significant bias toward new business activities, you will be required to harness your team in the preparation and delivery of pitches to clients and prospective clients with a view to landing projects within both new and established market sectors. Success in this endeavour will see pitches translate into well composed, coherent and commercially viable proposals complete with project plans, explanation of scope and vision for the project and ultimately costings. Crux pride themselves on their ability to win projects on the quality of the commercial pitch and with the support of the broad Project Management function, there is an expectation to maintain and own a steady pipeline of opportunities for the team.

Principal Responsibilities

 

Team Leadership and Development

  • Oversee the delivery of all Human Factors and Usability related activities.
  • Provide technical expert guidance to the Human Factors and Usability team, sales team and senior management.
  • Recruit, develop and engage the Human Factors and Usability team.
  • Keep up to date with industry developments and share your knowledge with the team and business promoting awareness of Human Factors and Usability at Crux.

Client Engagement and Business Development

  • Assist with client liaison from attending briefings, project kick-offs and reviews.
  • Be proactive in developing new business opportunities through nurturing client relationships and managing repeat business by strategically targeting partnerships with clients that allow Crux to be positioned as an industry leader for Human Factors and Usability excellence.
  • Recruit, develop and engage the Human Factors and Usability team.
  • Identify best-in-class standards and procedures to better serve our present and future customers and oversee the successful integration of them into the business.
  • Strategic client account management, to generate a strong project pipeline for the function.

Commercial and Project Management

  • Demonstrate commercial awareness to understand our clients’ needs and the world in which they operate to enable us to build and develop new relationships and identify new opportunities.
  • Identify best-in-class standards and procedures to better serve our present and future customers and oversee the successful integration of them into the business.
  • Identify and implement ways to improve project delivery and act as quality gatekeeper for Human Factors and Usability deliverables.
  • Manage commercial performance of the Human Factors and Usability function, including identifying relevant and strategic Capex investment, presenting budgets and plans.
  • Responsible for History File Handover and data management ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and legal requirements.
  • Demonstrate commercial awareness to understand our clients’ needs and the world in which they operate to enable us to build and develop new relationships and identify new opportunities.
  • Identify opportunities and referrals for selling Human Factors and Usability services into client accounts.

Thought Leadership and Promotion

  • Articulate the unique value our Human Factors expertise brings to clients across the markets we serve, highlighting how early-stage usability considerations and activities supports their project success.
  • Attend and present at relevant conferences and events to represent Crux and share forward-thinking thought leadership externally and nurture key members of your team to do the same.
  • Proactively promote the Crux USP with thought leadership and content creation, PR and marketing assets.

Essential:
  • Proven experience in a Human Factors leadership role.
  • Client facing experience including pitching and delivery.
  • Experience of leading, developing and building teams.

  • Experience of applying Human Factors to Medical device development

Position Overview:

We’re on the lookout for exceptionally talented individuals with a relevant engineering degree (Mechanical, Aerospace, Materials) or similar (Applied Physics, Data Science, Maths, etc.) to join our Applied Sciences team. This role offers a unique opportunity to help shape the future of engineering within the medical devices and pharmaceutical industry, applying advanced simulation techniques to solve complex challenges.

As a Senior Applied Sciences Engineer with a strong focus on Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and Finite Element Analysis (FEA), you will lead high-impact projects using STAR-CCM+ for CFD and Abaqus for FEA. This role involves applying advanced simulation techniques and providing strong engineering insights across a range of challenging projects in the medical and consumer product sectors. You will oversee the technical work of junior engineers, manage team development, and play a key role in project execution from start to finish.

Principal Responsibilities
  • Lead advanced CFD simulations using Star-CCM+.
  • Execute detailed FEA studies using Abaqus, focusing on structural integrity, material behaviour, and stress analysis.
  • Demonstrate complex mathematical modelling and simulation expertise across diverse projects.
  • Rapid prototyping, lab testing, and design of experiments to validate and refine engineering solutions.
  • Proficient in CAD for generating concepts, detailed design of components, and creating technical drawings and manufacturing specifications.
  • Prepare high-quality technical reports and comprehensive design documentation.
  • Confidently communicate project value to clients and stakeholders, demonstrating technical authority.
  • Build strong client relationships and identify new business opportunities and referrals.
  • Lead a team of Applied Sciences engineers, guiding them to successfully realise technical solutions.

 

Line Management Duties

  • Mentor and support junior staff, guiding them in their technical development and project tasks.

In this fast-paced role, you will be responsible for the management and supervision of our Front of House team, schedule all servicing and maintenance requirements for the building and carry out essential administrative tasks to ensure the seamless daily operations of the office.

Principal Responsibilities
  • Oversee day-to-day office operations

  • Maintain fire safety records

  • Plan and manage companywide events

The Senior IT Support Engineer plays a pivotal role in ensuring the stability, security, and scalability of the company’s IT environment, while also mentoring junior staff and influencing IT strategy.

Principal Responsibilities

IT Infrastructure Leadership:

  • Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of the company’s network infrastructure.
  • Manage complex server environments, including virtualization, storage solutions, and cloud integration.
  • Lead in the development and execution of IT strategy for scalability, security, and performance.
  • Ensure high availability of critical systems and lead disaster recovery initiatives.

Advanced Network & System Administration:

  • Maintain and optimize enterprise-level network solutions, including routers, switches, firewalls, and VPNs.

Position Overview:

The Marketing Manager plays a crucial role in the development and execution of marketing strategies to promote our services, drive brand awareness, and attract customers.

You will be responsible for planning and implementing marketing campaigns across various channels to support our business development activities and our wider company objectives. This role involves conducting market research, analysing market behaviour, and developing content and promotional materials.

Principal Responsibilities

Campaign Development & Execution:

  • Create and implement marketing campaigns to promote products, services and events.
  • Develop and distribute engaging content for social media, blogs, emails, and other digital channels.

Market Research & Analysis:

  • Conduct market research to identify target audiences and opportunities for new campaigns.
  • Analyse competitor strategies and provide insights for better positioning.
  • Track marketing trends, customer preferences, and key industry data.

Content Creation & Management:

  • Collaborate with team members to create effective marketing content.
  • Oversee the production of marketing materials such as brochures, banners, email templates, and presentations.
  • Write compelling copy for websites, blogs, social media posts, and email newsletters.

Data Tracking & Reporting:

  • Monitor and analyse the performance of marketing campaigns using tools like Google Analytics, CRM systems, and social media platforms.
  • Prepare detailed reports on campaign effectiveness, return on investment (ROI), and key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Use data to recommend improvements to marketing tactics and strategies.

Collaborative Efforts:

  • Work closely with the sales team to align marketing initiatives with sales objectives.

 Event Planning & Coordination:

  • Plan and execute promotional events, trade shows, and webinars.
  • Manage event logistics, marketing materials, and post-event follow-up.
What We’re Looking For…
Essential:
  • 3 or more years marketing experience in a similar B2B marketing role.
  • Experience in formulating marketing strategy and compiling marketing plans as well as campaign execution.
  • Strong writing and storytelling skills, with the ability to create engaging content across social media, blogs, white papers, thought pieces, CRM and email communications.
  • Proficiency with digital marketing tools such as Google Analytics, SEO, SEM, and CRM systems.
  • Good analytical kills with the ability to interpret and leverage data to make data-driven decisions.
  • Excellent project management and organisational skills to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for cross-functional collaboration.
Desirable:
  • Experience in a consultancy environment.
  • Experience in the medical, pharma or health industries.

Mechanical Engineer Interns at Crux work on full-lifecycle, multidisciplinary projects in medical device development, sustainability, consumer goods and beyond.
